How to Prepare for Events

With one of our biggest events on the way, designer Richard Solodky visiting our store, it is important for the bride to be and feel prepared to plan her wedding.

Here’s a reminder of some frequently asked questions Lilla’s Bridal receives.

Do I need an appointment to shop for wedding gowns?
Appointments are recommended so that we can give you the undivided attention you deserve, however walk-ins are welcomed.

How long are bridal appointments?
Our bridal appointments last about an hour and a half.

When should I begin my search for my wedding gown?
You should begin your search for your wedding gown about one year before your wedding as designer gowns do take up to six months to order. However, if you have an upcoming wedding date you may purchase a sample gown off the rack or you can meet with a consultant who can assist you in finding a company that can meet your needs which may include a rush charge.

Who should I bring to my appointment?
Choosing your wedding gown is a very special moment that you want to share with those that are close to you. From our experience, it is important to invite family and friends whose opinions you trust so that your decision is easier. Please keep in mind that we are a small boutique and seating can be limited. We advise bringing 3-4 special guests.

Will I need alterations?
When we order your gown our trained staff will measure you and follow the appropriate size chart according to the designer of your gown. We order the most accurate size we can at that time after consulting with you. Please remember your gown is not custom made to your body measurements. In most cases, a wedding gown needs alterations so that it fits perfectly to your body. Alterations are an additional charge.

Do you do alterations in your boutique?
Yes! Lilla does the alteration in house so you do not have to worry. The process begins with a first fitting. Once your gown arrives in our boutique you will receive a phone call where you can schedule your first fitting. At your fitting, Lilla will pin the dress and also add the bustle. To follow, there will be a second fitting to ensure your gown fits perfect. Any last minute changes can be made. Then the gown is pressed and will be ready for pick up.

What should I bring to my fitting?
Your fitting is your time to ensure your gown is perfect. Please be sure to bring with you the shoes you will be wearing with your gown so it can be hemmed to the correct length. Please bring any undergarments you choose to wear. If you did not do so already, you may also browse our collection and choose accessories to add the finishing touches to your gown.

How long does it take to order bridesmaids dresses?
Bridesmaids dresses take four months to order. We recommend that you purchase all your bridesmaid's gowns at one boutique to avoid a difference in color. Here at Lilla's Bridal Boutique, we wait to order all your bridesmaid's dresses until every girl has placed her order to ensure that they are cut from the same fabric as the dye lot may vary. Each bridesmaid is measured and the most accurate size is ordered. In most cases, bridesmaid dresses require alterations because the gowns are not custom made. Alterations are an additional charge. If your wedding date is near, many companies offer a rush cut for a fee. Our consultants can work with you to ensure you choose the best options for your wedding day.

How long does it take to order mothers' dresses?
Mothers' dresses can take up to four months to order. Please also keep in mind time for alterations if needed. If you have an upcoming wear date, we sell gowns off the rack. Our consultants will work with you to ensure you make the best choice for you
